Removing old wallpaper can be a
tough, messy job. Even strippable wallpaper can leave a paste or paper
residue. Fortunately, many companies make water-soluble products
for penetrating and softening old wallpaper and paste residue, making it
much easier to remove. Popular brands include 3M, DIF, and
Strip+ ®.
We have also found that using
water and liquid fabric softener performs very well.
The manufacturers of wallpaper
removal solutions recommend applying their
solutions with a sponge, or a lawn & garden sprayer, and to re-spray with
water if it starts drying out before the wallpaper is ready to remove. Sponges
are messy however, and lawn & garden sprayers are less than ideal, since
their nozzles spray in a concentrated, cone-shaped pattern.
